ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. — Local women learned about mental and physical health at a Women's Wellness Expo in Arroyo Grande Sunday, hosted by the Arroyo Grande Village Improvement Association.

The Ted talk-style expo featured speakers with an expertise in breast cancer, cannabis pain relief and healing, Alzheimer's, stress reduction and more.

The speakers include bestselling authors, documentary directors and filmmakers.

Guests could also check out local wellness-related vendors and food.

"It's better to take proactive strategies and be responsible for your whole health and know that there are ways to try to avoid disease in the first place," said Gaea Powell, Executive Director of the Arroyo Grande Village Improvement Association.

Powell says her goal behind this event was to introduce women to holistic practitioners in our area who are skilled in hormones, burnout, cancer prevention and emotional health.
